R. Swinley & Co. may have put out the best looking bottles in many different forms including a seltzer as you will see. Here is some text from an early Paterson Newspaper..

A Happy Oddity... within hours of one another I was offered a Swinley Seltzer and a Swinley Quart Hutch by people who found me thru this site. The seltzer was local(Wayne) but the hutch was from Florida and was in a box of bottles from Ocala for some odd reason. It had sat in the persons basement for 20 years and he just got around to unwrapping them when he noticed where it was from.

I get alot of emails and PM's regarding the R. Swinley hutches because of their "citrate like" lip treatment on a hutch body, and I let people know that this is the normal lip for these bottles. I often tell them to alert me when they find one with a regular hutch lip, and I have acquired a few because I didn't want to disappoint somone who had picked one up for me in their travels, and I have turned my cheek to a good 5 or 6 others along the way.

It turns out I have 6 different examples in total, this is a taller green example flanked by two tall aquas, one of which will be sold.

New Swinley arrived today and man is it WONKY!!! Looks like the mold wasn't held together too well, the left side of the slugplate is perfectly round, but the right side looks like a football, the ampersand is reversed as is the "J". There's no period after the "N" in NJ, and it feels very out of round in your hand, and I LOVE it!!

Paterson runs down hill to fit it all in without running into the "CO."

Thanks to the lot of bottles I bought last night I was able to add a third variant of a Swinley quart hutch, it's the 'stubby' guy on the left... I also add the citrate lip variant on the right as an upgrade, if anyones interested in trading for one I have another for just for that purpose.

These two ads from the 1903 American Carbonator and American Bottler have Swinley selling off some interesting equipment and also looking to buy other stuff, I'm guessing he started a transition of some kind at this time...

A new variant(to me & the guru) popped up on Ebay, this one is the only example with R.H. Swinley embossed on it. I didn't bid on it because I wanted to let the Guru have it, he ended up being the winning bidder...

Head is about to explode, I have about 28 of the Paterson quart hutches and they were all together until I put up a shelf in my office and matched 10 quarts & pints together for display. Now I can't find the quart you're asking about Tod, which isn't a good thing when you tend to obsess like I do....
